Idol-mania

Tonight is Rock&Roll week on American Idol, as contestants perform songs from Bon Jovi. To me this was probably one of the best episodes of the season, because finally I see the potential of another great finale ala season 2. And it's all thanks to him.

"SHANKE N BLAKE!"
I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL!!!

BLAKE LEWIS, sporting a very neat black hairdo (Black Blake), in the words of Randy Jackson, "blew it out of the box" tonight! yeah! wassup dawgggg!!! that was da bomb!!! his version of "You give love a bad name" was one of the most original, innovative, and smart arrangements EVER done by an Idol contestants. With that comes huge risk, and I'm glad to say that it's paid off very very well. Throughout the competition, he's kept his edge and did not sell out by performing quirky and surprising choices/renditions that is as refreshing as ice water on the hottest summer. Tonight's performance was, IMO, Blake at his best. He maintained the song's rock elements, yet gave it more twist and turns than Twisties and Donuts. Beat boxing and runs intact, his performance had more surprises than any of the other 5 contestants (yes, even beating Kiki's so-called return to form surprise). JUST. VERY. COOL.

after watching his performance, I felt this could really be the season with a finale to-die-for. Other than season 2's Reuben vs Clay mammoth battle, other seasons' finales are dead giveaways. Justin never did A Moment Like This justice, Diana ruined one of her songs by going out of tune (and she wasnt exactly part of the dream-finale team of Latoya-Hudson-Fantasia), Bo Bice dun have a voice more commercial than Carrie, or rock enough to truely make it (and Constantine was out), and we already have a diva-in-the-making, so Kat McPhee wld have to play second fiddle to Taylor Hick's very unfortunate win, albeit an oddball choice(and Chris-everyone-thought-was-gonna-win-Daughtry was out too early). So imagine if it's a battle between Blake and Melinda. the innovator vs the power-house. the original vs the gifted vocalist. the teenage-magnet vs the humble pie. the edgy kewl cat vs the naughty little tiger. MARVELOUS.

but Idol, given its many twists and turns like twisties and donuts, might pull a shocker and send Blake home. Like Simon said, one half will love it, one half will hate it. i just hope the one half who love it are the ones who vote. either way i'm dying to see how his first record will be like. sure to be a shocker.

i'm tired already hahha. but i cant leave without talkin bout my Hot Favourite to win this year.

MELINDA DOOLITTLE. this week her "young Tina Turner" comparisons were moved one step closer. however i had higher expectations of her. yes it's a good vocals, but i just hoped she'd moved around more and run 2.4km on stage and show the world how to DANCE in high heels the way groud-breakin Tina Turner did it back in the days. do a lil "rollin" ala "Proud Mary" or something u know. but she was jus keepin it a tad safe. pity. and her wardrobe didnt do her justice. it's rock week! cant they give her a leather jacket or smthin?! tt sleeveless tee was WRONG. and she's gonna be in the finale!!! cant the producers prep her up with something more glamorous>?! gosh.

but i still love Doolittle. she makes me smile. wideeee Sanjaya smile.

oh. Phil is worth a mention too. love. Jordin Chris Kiki, good luck.
