stuttered!!!

shit la. i volunteered for the President's Challenge today at the Turf Club. it was the official launch, and also my first volunteer work with Auntie Jenny. and ST interviewed me! the reporter (hui yee) wanted to do something about first-time volunteer. so when Auntie Rosemary ask "Who's doing this for the first time?" i raised my hand, just a tad bit, enough for her to see, and she grabbed me. i sldnt have raised tt dumb hand.

i am so afraid i've said the wrong things man. i popped anutie Jenny's name, so i hope nuthin goes wrong, and she dun take my words too literally. damn i sld have been more eloquent and charming. (lucky no photo shoot)

so anyway it went well la today. i was pretty shy about everything, and i just hang around the stage and help the drummers clear the drum stand onli. zuo bo. i saw Mathilda, who was not in top vocal form. sigh. and gong shi jia. drummers and kids and senior citizens also put up a good show. oh. and i saw THE PRESIDENT. biggest star of the day. and moses lim. biggest star also.

and free food. and first time to turf club. such a posh place for horse racing and gambling.

fizzled

i fucking hate antagonistic ang mohs who think they can get whatever they want as long as they insist on it. they fucking have the American dream too stuck in their head to know that it takes an iota of respect or just a simple 'please' to get their way. fuckin drunkard.

and so my day was ruined by him. no, atcually not. i have more resilience than that. he merely tickled it, but he's got sharp hard fingers. but it hasnt been a fine sunny day for me either. the best moments were the surprising ones, like quin poppin up on me while hurryin to GV; seeing a very chirpy Glamorous in foodcourt, who is procrastinating our outing for eternity; listening to Whitney's I Believe In You and Me and reminded of Melinda; free cha-kway-teow; glimpse of Project Superstar alum Derrick.

today i hate myself. for not being who i want to be. i told myself to get out of my crammy job, yet i'm still here. come June i will finally be able to do so, yet it's still one step a tad too late. i have yet to process my study loan procedures, nor call up quin's job offer. i have not finish my library books, despite my constant confidence during loaning, that i can finish all the books i'm borrowing this time. my room is like a sty. i dun observe enough. i am not free-spirited enough. i am not smart enough. i am helpless when it comes to a friendship that fizzled.

i know that all these cant be changed within a day. but i've known these for far to long now, and it's frustrating how i'm not tryin hard enough. spinning around a spot.

the problem lies in me, i know. so does everything else that's bothering me now.

I hate and am amazed at how a friendship could just fizzle. it must be me.

i find this a very ironic entry. i love the American pop culture, yet despise it sometimes. i hate my self loathe, yet i'm doin it. i know that nothing here, or whatever it is that is bothering me, truely really matters at all, yet i am just constantly disturbed by it. don't tell me its human nature, because i believe that if anyone can pull off self exorcism, i can.

meetup!!!

i met up with my exco today. thou only 4 of us turned up, it was still a pleasant lunching experience much overdue. my first time at Vivo Figs and Olives, followed by brief shopping. i saw a Nike two-way bag which i adore but it's the last one left!!! time to bag hunt.

Razif my fellow music guru/Friends fanatic. he rewatched season 1 thru 10 4 times already. C.R.A.Z.Y.

Rismin the happily married.

Fuzzy monkey Shirleen, soon to be engaged.

for the first time in a long while, i did some shopping! yeah! i mean, actual clothes shopping. i dun usually buy garments unless it's the CNY or there's an occasion. this yr i feel like contributing to the Great Singapore Sale target of dunnohowmuch million, before the silly GST hike spoils the fun of shopping (no matter how some say the effect is minimal).

so i bought two flesh imp shirts for $35. wanted to get a pair of shades to go along, but restrained.

so i chilled in town while waiting to meet up with Shu Quin Siying and Chailing. I haven seen them in AGES! I really miss hanging out with them; i dunno any other way to put it. just very refreshing. siying i haven seen for almost two years. it's crazy. two weeks ago she suddenly sms me and told me she misses me after reading her Friendster Testis. awwwww. so we met up. Chailing i also have not seen in eons. and it was always nice to sit and chat with shu and quin. the girls wld talk TONS about relationshiprelationshiprelationship and i'll just tag along. women and their conversations can be very random(as Siying realised) and very funny, esp these few friends of mine.

i'll miss them till the next time i see them.

and yes, i've pulled a Britney-prelude and chopped off my bangs. gave it a fresh new colour too. it's time for a change.

where's Fantasia?!?!?!

that was the thought that kept popping in my head as i watch the season finale of the biggest show on tv, American Idol.

it was one short to make a family reunion, as Kelly, Reuben, Carrie, and Taylor performed solo and did a Beatles-Idol-winners medley(i swear i thought Paul McCartney was gonna pull a Prince and break out from the splitting screen). it was a nice homecoming. Kelly wore a almost-bareback top that was out to prove she's not F.A.T. Carrie wore skirts so short but it didnt distract her singing, thou i find 'I'll stand by you' very shrieky.Ruben came out from MIA! and Taylor Hicks actually impressed me tonight. i thought he was tryin very hard to boost his less-than-a-million-sold album.

so where's Fantasia?!?!?!

i tink she's on Broadway, The Colour Purple.

This year's show was more coherent than last year's i thought.there's werent as much special guests, and they werent really tryin to recruit the most current. Bette Midler, Green Day, Tony Bennett came. and while i didnt get my special-guests predictions right except for past idol winners, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN and put put Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson in my list. SR cos he's a regular. Gladys Knight also appeared before, but her name has been popped once or twice in comparing Melinda to her.

the faux-idol segment was reduced yet funnier, with very awkward appearances by the idol-misfits. Ryan, thou funnier with one-liners and had more stage presence, sucked at the announcement of results: very anti-climax, very rushed. i'm estactic Melinda got to sing solo with a special guest(b??? and Cece Winans, whom Melinda use to sing backup for). and Blake's beatboxing was SUPERB. so great i thought he might win, even thou voting was over. hahaha. ya i thought he'd already won.

so the best performances of the night, imo, goes to:
-Tony Bennett's For Once In My Life. thou tt's song's in his new duets album, he's stayed publicity free by doin this solo. i swear i thought some special guest wld pop up to duet with him. his jazzy rendition was smooth and at an ripe old age, he showed other veterans that u can still be at the top of ya game.hands down best vocals of the night.
-Blake's beatboxin with an mc from Fresh. EXHILARATING. especially when they did the beatbox spar. wow. that was very very exciting! hands down most entertaining of the night. heck, best performance!
-Melinda's segment.
-the african children choir. perfect.

and while my Blake-tory didnt materialise, and while no runner up with the exception of Clay Aiken has ever made the big time, i'm still glad for Blake and am crossing my fingers very hard that he'll have an incredible career ahead. surely the most innovative and experimental contestant ever has got to have a contract. i just hope, like what Clive Davis said bout the right producers right songs right person, that Blake's story wont end here. that performance tonight proved he cld make it in the outside world, because people with less talent have made it bigger than him. here's hoping people and critics wld be raving when the album drops.

so. i didnt feel much for Jordin's victory. it was a)luck due to bad idol single that proved disadvantageous for Blake, b) it wasnt strictly a singing competition as much has been said about it, c) the judges' obvious pimping, d) Ryan's anti-climax announcement, e) my unimpressed ears. after 6 seasons, u cant blame me for being a prick. i, like other idol fanatics, want what's best for the franchise. this year saw no standing ovation from Randy Jackson, no "magical" comment from Simon, and no "Summertime" for any contestant. at best, the best performance of the season goes to Blake's "You give love a bad name", followed by Kiki's "and i'm telling you i'm not going", then Melinda's "Home". so while uneventful, i had my first craze in over 2 yrs, since Fantasia last rocked the stage. during season 4 and 5 i wasnt really rooting for anyone, nor die-hard for anyone. Elliott Yamin came close, but not Fantasia/Kimberley Locke status. thank god for Melinda this year. if not it would have been, imo, one of the worst season ever.

another season has come and gone. Wednesday and thursday nights will never be the same again this year. sighsighsigh.

p.s.pardon the jordin bashing!

This is my now

This is my now. and this is everyone's worse nightmare.

This is, officially for me, the worst idol-single e.v.e.r. yes, horrors to horrors worse than Do I Make You Proud.

The title itself is a huge turnoff. and i cannot believe it takes 2 person to create something of this calibre. cheesy and unmelodious, it does not have the grandeur of I Believe or A Moment Like This. amongst all the entries, surely there's gotta be a better song somewhere, right?

it's been a fair race tonight right until this song, and i think Blake's chances were seriously damaged with this run-of-the-mill number that doesnt bode well for his style. Yet, it goes back to the case of "if u're a terrific singer you can sing almost anything". so if Blake, revealing his flaws and limitations in full glory, wins the competition......it will be the most unexpected win, if u base on the final night's performance. Simon's "you just wiped the floor with Blake on that song" was at once hilarious and uncanny. what a nailing comment.

Jordin was lucky the finale song was something within her capacity, and her power-lungs served her well. after all their emphasis tonight that this is a singing competition, i'm feeling uncomfortable that a Blaketory might not work out after all.

This season finale also sees the judges giving lukewarm comments. Randy usually wont use "aight" for the finale show if i'm not wrong. and if memory serves me well, they usually give face value to the final two. not since Diana DeGarmo's out-of-tune in the finale can i remember a lukewarm comment. but tonight there were quite little raves, plenty of unspoken thoughts. i guess the next nail that hit the hardest was Simon commenting that until tonight he didnt think Jordin was good enough for the finale. agree with the not-good-enough part thou. i still dun think she's risen up to the occasion.

and so, i agree with Phuimun. we award the best vocalist/performance of the night to:

CHRIS DAUGHTRY.

i mean, DAUGHTRY. just Daughtry.

May 24

Every year this period is filled with mixed emotions. Another great Idol season has come to an end, yet I'm excited and look forward to the surprises these 'graduates' will bring. An Oscar? A Grammy? A surprising Number 1 album? It is easy for me to remember something great that starts around January, my birthday month. januarys are full of things to look forward to.

Since last year, i've been commemorating this special occasion by donning this:

A tad silly, i know.(both the act and the pic) Anything goes for Idol!

And once again i have TallOne Jennifer Law to thank for giving me this wonderful piece of fabric. despite the increased tightness from last year(the garment must have shrunk. or, gasp gasp, i have gone F.A.T) and my favourite contestant's premature departure, i am still gonna wear this shirt tml to my workplace. If so much as a thought was sparked, better still if a conversation was ignited on who would win/anything Melinda related, it would have served more than its purpose.

Tomorrow. Part 1 of a beautiful departure. expect lots of surprises, idol fanatics alight: surprise guest appearances yet to be revealed, finalists' winning single which i read proved to be uplifting, Blake's tricks up his sleeves, Jordin's outfit changes(sorri if i'm paying attention to that more than the performance), Melinda's singing outbeatting everyone else's, and of cos, SANJAYA'S HAIR.

and for the fun of it,at the risk of sounding bold, i'm predicting guest appearances from: Tina Turner, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson (i hope she pitches her new song!), Carrie Underwood, and, horrors to horrors, TAYLOR HICKS.

Blake vs. Jordin. it doesnt really matter anymore, since the best singers are already out. I see a great career for the winner, and a not-so-glamorous one for the runner-up. if u're an idol fanatic like me, i'm sure u'd have known by now who'd win. Nonetheless. i'll be watching it as a fan of the franchise, and as an unconventional-Blake supporter. Not as a supporter of the best singer thou. well, maybe that will apply on Thursday.

Pardon the biasness.

rebel, with or without a cause(?)

Mr nice guy.super nice friend. friendly. good tempered.etc etc.

i cant think of anyone else to quote except Britney: "i'm not that innocent. ...oopsididitagain...."

i wonder if i register any other impressions besides these.

sometimes i think i am not that fine after all. sometimes i just want to break out of this mould i have created for myself, rebel, and move on without regret.

i guess it's the same for everyone. the more u confine them, the more eager to break free they become.

idol

i found some great idol shots. of course, i HAVE TO post them up.

and i am putting my money on Shake 'N Blake to win the competition. it's very simple. the idol franchise needs someone like him to add to their multi-genre takeover of the music business. he has unprecedented originality, youth, creativity, and mass appeal. sorry Jordin, we've already had our divas in Kelly and Fantasia.

Volver

Volver. to return, to come back.

watching Volver a few days ago felt very surreal. It was as if the women were living in a parallel universe, and I was sucked into the enclosed lives of these 5 women. Everything on the outside was like a dream: rich colours, ravishing beauty, getting away with murder. Yet on the inside, it's everyone's battle.

Penelope Cruz has never looked better, or acted better. I'm glad she's not with Tom Cruise now. this is my favourite scene, Raimunda singing.pity this version does not have subtitles. go watch the movie for it.

after a hectic week, i had a much overdue meetup with...

Simon Low Meng Hum

Tsian Yang

Justin

Chong Han

pics are taken with my new phone =)

it was a really short meetup, just Carl's Junior (my first) and a slow walk back to the mrt. on the ride back, out of the blue, TY commented that he hasnt been to lailiqi's house for a long time. i quickly searched my database, trying to recall how Lai's house looked like. i was reminded of mahjong, ps2, and his dog. somewhere along the line, things changed and people started playin DOTA instead.

i miss hanging out at friend's places, just chilling and doing nothingness, eat, drink, sleep. arent we suppose to do that now? instead of twenty years later?

i guess people do change. it's scary, cos one day i might become a totally different person, and you most probably wouldnt know it.

i think this is what we call 'perfect timing', because i jus saw my dad watching Tina Turner sing on tv. of cos it reminded me of Doolittle. sigh.

and i find alot of my views are similar to the EW.com critic. i just want to make this clear:
-i was the first one who saw the values of a Blake vs Melinda finale being the best since Ruben vs Clay.
-and i always post entries b4 i read the critic.

Melinda Doolittle

my head is bobbing right now. I dun really know why. so i'm blogging this with my head like those little fortune-god head nodders.

It has to happen.

What's American Idol without some shock value.

But even I did not see this coming. after last week(which i thought was a make-or-break), Lakisha was sent home to the relief of Jordin/Blake/Melinda fans. but after that result show, i had a hunch that the worst might not be over. Because this is, if memories serves me well, one of the tightest top 3 we've ever had. so it hit me hard that this week is the real deal - the truely make-or-break.

I sld have seen it coming, because if the Melinda had been the one the judges want to win this season, she'd definitely have received much pimping from them, like what Jordin received.

I sld have seen it coming, because Melinda finally broke out of her shell and surprised with three stunning showstoppers that, i dare say, was better than the other 6 songs BJ sang. i didnt see that mic-stand-ascending coming at all. and the leg-stance she pulled after that. it's got to be the best pose all season. personally she also brought a newfound sensitivity to Whitney's I Believe In You and Me. i was so hooked i almost believed the song, and almost cried. it was so well-phrased.

I sld see it coming because no one expected it. Yahoo critic has jinxed it by saying she can never go home. and everyone loves a dramatic irony. what else can i say.

in a way, Melinda needed this more than anyone, ironically. at 29, her marketability pales in comparison to Jordin's wide grin and Blake's beat-boxing. a win wld do for her what it did for Fantasia, and probably more: worldwide recognition and push factors. people keep saying that she'll make it no matter what. but truth is, based on track record, which 2nd-runner up has actually made it huge? Elliot Yamin didnt cause as much a stir, and he wasnt even signed by Clive Davis. Kimberley Locke didnt become the 8th world wonder. and who else are second runners-up can u remember?

back to yesterday's show. i can say she gave 3 of her best performances. personally i was kept entertained and excited. after two uptempo numbers from JB (Wishing on star and Roxanne), Melinda's whitney number gave a tasty smooth low key vibe that got everybody listening. Whitney is a huge deal, so everyone was payin attention to see if the 'resident pro' can screw anything up. of course she didnt, so round 1 was hers. for round 2 the producers cant pick a better song for anyone else. Nutbush City Limits nailed her Tina Turner vibe to a T, and was IMO her breakthru. she had gumption, similar to Tina. Jordin doesnt looked like she was workin hard for the money. that was IMO worst of the night. it looks like she wasnt even tryin to impress. Blake's This Love is of cos a teenage-hooker meant for the votes. round 3 J and M sang songs they've done b4. while J's re-sing grew dull without the first-time surprise, M's re-sing had style and sass in ways different from the first time we see her perform that song. and backin vocals dressed like tarts. gosh the producers truely wants an ultra dramatic irony of an exit huh. Blake was charming as usual, but his routine gets tiresome after a while.

personally, all 3 rounds went to M. and i trust myself to say this because i do not think i am biased.

Phuimun sms-ed me: "wow! i got my wish for who was out!"
thinkin that she cant possibly mean Melinda, i was shocked when she told me that's what the blogs have been saying. i was shell-shocked. it's like the worst sense of deja vu, like ya worst nightmare, and even buyin toto had never proved luckier. that was in the afternoon.

and in assertion that Melinda's exit was earth-shattering, my dear friend Mr A Murali smsed me for the first time since ORD to tell me he's sad cos Melinda is out, and he's not watching the finale. now that is a real shocker because:
a) Murali READS, he dun sms. serious.
b) Murali hasnt contacted me or anyone AT ALL in 1 yr(mayb except Bob for some D&D game) and the first thing he said was about Idol.
c) He knew i like Melinda when i didnt even tell him.
so i sms Seng to tell him another lottery-derserving twist of fate.

so thruout i was really just affected by it. but none prepared me for QJ's tribute on his blog that really got me heartbroken. it was so surreal, like it hit me for the first time.

so after sadness comes anger.

i've yet to catch the result show. but i dun think it matters much now. there goes my chances of seeing melinda wear a lovely gown. or hearing an earth-shattering ballad that proves again that she can blow things out of the box anytime. or seeing her on the cover of Straits Times. or hear her version of the winning song.

now i only have her MP3 to live for.

i can only hope the finale song is terrible beyond hope.

Seriously, i see no value in this conspiracy/plot twist, if this is one.

a friend said "so your day's bad because of american idol? dude, grow up =)"
i replied "rite".
QJ said he hates ppl who dun understand the meaning of passion.

i can only say, as silly as this might sound, that if u do not understand the effects of this, u truely do not understand me.

and i dun feel sorry for "not growing up".

pls pardon the Jordin /Blake bashing. it was not done in spite. but i truely feel this way about them. in my heart, it was a rip-off, a sad consequence of not voting for who u like, or who sings better. it jus pains and sickens me.

first thing tml night is to sleep past 6.30am. i've been doing trails + MJ for 4 consecutive days and it's takin a toil on me. i need a rest. from everything.

i think a final farewell deserves an exceptional photo. goodbye Melinda.

3 of my favourite canto songs now. feel free to youtube them and fall in love with it(due to my considerate nature, i've chosen the karaoke version, sans bold lyrics highlighted with perfect timing. u might as well learn to sing them too). i am craving for a canto song fan like me as well.

S3

I finally caught Spiderman 3 today. I cant help but feel it was a little of a letdown.while they were trying to hash out Parker's inner dilemma/demons/turmoils, they neglected the villains. the story, while noble in its attempt, proved too huge a task for Sam Raimi to tackle in my opinion. Visually, imo again, nothin was as stunning as S2's edge-of-ya-seat train sequence, or as ground-breakingly surprising as Dr Oct's first appearance at the cafe, sending a car smashing thru it while grabbing MJ afterwards, everything happening 40 times slower than usual.

even before i caught the movie, i was a tad disappointed with the promo poster already. it didnt tell us anything more than the fact that spidey has a change of costume now. i was hoping for a poster with the sandman. so much has been said about how his character's visual effects was the most difficult to make thruout the 3 movies, yet it wasnt blown up in full poster-glory, the details of sand, Thomas Hayden Church's brooding meant-to-play-bad face. i was also hoping to see venom's real face. it was a scary sight and i'm jus disappointed it wasnt made use of. forget about the surprise element, because we all know venom's gonna make an appearance. S2 had Doc oct in full glory. so why not S3's villains? and James Franco so deserves his own poster for New Goblin.

like i said, the villains werent played out to its full potential. so much was spent tellin Parker's dilemma that the villain's backstory got neglected a lil IMO. Venom wasnt as buffed up, and where's his powers?! no giant claw ala the video game?! but the sight of him was indeed scary. i just wish there was more. his twisted mind and violent nature was way underplayed. and topher grace was underutilised. such a waste.

the sandman. we only know he's got a daughter to save. and then?! his daughter only appears in one scene. and his guilt over killing uncle ben?! it wasnt very obvious as well.Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) was more like a vase being made use of rather than a 2rd party love interest.

Tobey must be havin fun playin his evil side. Kirsten, while still the damsel in distress, has a meatier role at least. I guess the surprise comes from James Franco. as the new goblin, his character was given more exposure/development as compared to the previous film. everybody loves a reformed bad guy, and everyone loves a sidekick/ally. i shall stop here in case i give too much away...hahhaa...

but anyway, there goes my hope of seeing venom(and Topher) again, and perhaps even Carnage. Mysterio wld be an interesting one to tackle. or the lizard can be scary enough.

Melinda Doolittle DO ALOT - My Funny Valentine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNAxnwYDrAM&mode=related&search=

i must be crazy. after an Idol high, i watched this vid on replay for bout 7 times now (some of it just listening). This is her at her best. FANTASTIC. i also caught There Will Come A Day for bout 3 times, hear Faith Hill's version (not as good) for 3 spins, den back to the vid for 2 times. i also caught HOME twice, and Since You Been Gone 3 times.

gosh. i AM crazy.crazy tired too.

i PRAY it's not a Daughtry-esque shocker tomorrow/later.

back to EN marathon.

Idol-latory

"Anyhow, Melinda fans, don't stress too much, since it's pretty likely that LaKisha's Idol journey is about to end, not with a bang but with that cracked final note on ''Run to Me.'' To be completely realistic, she entered the final four on borrowed time — with her country-night and inspirations-week debacles still fresh in the public's mind — and it would've taken a showstopper on par with last week's ''This Ain't a Love Song'' to save her."

-Michael Slezak on http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20007164_20008533_20038295,00.html

i think the writer hit the nail on the spot with the entire entry. He found it hard to root for somebody after tonight's show. Melinda hasnt delivered the surprises she did in the earlier rounds, thou she still sounds amazing, but a tad teethering on boring.

Kiki is highly inconsistent as her highs from last week were killed by tonight's very weird-sounding 'stayin' alive' and that last note on 'run to me'.

Jordin's talent was hurt more by Barry gibb's pimping than anything else, saying her version of 'to love somebody' was the best, and mentioning after hearing 'woman in love' that she's gonna be one of the best recording female artist we have. WHAT?! he must have been in the recording studio since the 80s. I was quite shocked myself that Jordin didnt receive great comments for her closing performance. Not that i thought she was great, but usually the final one to sing would get high accolades for closing the show at a high. However I'm thankful the judges didnt carry on with Barry's pimping (despite what they've been doing so far). I suspect Nygel Lythgoe (the producer) put Jordin last because he'd love for everyone to get high from a Barbs number. However Barbs, being Barbs, proved too huge for Jordin (take that Barry for that one-of-the-finest comment!). Nygel hearts Barbs. now if only Melinda had did a Barbs and blow everyone off.

Blake oh Blake. As much as I love the outfits, he didnt quite Shake n' Blake tonight. I thought he did aight and gave "You should be dancing" a nice vibe. but the second song, which is an obscure number i remembered to be more catchy, let Blake down. it wasnt a winsome tune. but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Chris Richardson votes will now go to him. I'm still looking forward to a Blake-Melinda fight to the death.

it's still pretty much anybody's game at this point. Everyone predicts a Melinda-Jordin finale, but Blake is highly popular with the young ums, so i'm guessing Kiki's the casualty tonight. Next week will be more exciting. Then again, I thought the same last week. oh well.

I cant believe another season of Idol is ending in just two weeks' time. The show has become the highlight of the week, as I look forward to nothing more than Wednesday to come ASAP. I believe one has to watch Idols 2 thru 6 to really understand what i'm going to say. Rather than just hearing someone who sings well, it's more about rooting for someone you love and seeing him/her rise to the challenge/fall short of it every week. When he/she puts up a great show, you feel happy for him/her. You also feel the threat of bottom-two if a bad performance was given. it's also bout growth; between and within the contestants, Ryan between the judges, and the banter amongst the judges. it's also about discovering the next big thing commercially like Kelly and Carrie, and the next big inspiration like Fantasia, or the next big headliner/head scratcher like Taylor. personally, it's also about rediscovering a lost time. without Idol, i would never pick up a Donna Summer/Earth wind fire/Barry Manilow cd at all.so while i understand Idol's need to stay current with more contemporary song choices, i secretly curse them as well. so this has not been the biggest show on tv for nothing.

dun fret if u haven caught seasons 2 thru 5. You can pick up the remote and start tomorrow. =)

As much as I love the previous blogskin (unintentional Mary Poppins-esque reference, intentional escapism significance), it's time to finally ditch it and move on. This new conventional one, thou less unique as it was not a customised one, is at least pleasing to the eye. I've been wanting to change it for several reasons (messy and un-userfriendly tagboard, tiny font, inablilty to post youtube videos, which i think is one of the problems), and now i've finally done it.

much thanks to QJ for helpin a tech idiot like me amend the post-comments setting while saving the old blogskin. tons of gratitude! =)

in reply to several comments earlier...

Dustbin----> lucky you!! did u get to see divine Faye in all her glorious shots?! damn now i only have minute thumbnails that telly to less than a qurter of the exhibition from I WEEKLY to feast on. sigh...nv jio!!!

TallOne----> thanks for the concern! =) dun use "jus pullin ya leg" also cos its bruised now. hahaha...

YY----> YY gg ending! Y?! Y?! TELL ME YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.... =(

i jus heard Kenji's new song on tv. i like the electronic/rock vibe. thou i think he does theorise his songs abit too much whenever he has the chance. The previous album's cover design, concept, and arrangements could have been better i thought, thou it sounds very catchy upon first spin.

Dolores, Tori Amos and Travis have new albums out!!! Bjork and Elliot Yamin next!!!

anyway, inspired by my friend's Classified-ad scribblings on my Ice Mountain wattle bottle, here's my version of it. all are welcomed to scribble on my new "tagboard" (ie: post comments). =)

I need someone to:
-watch THE OFFICE with me and laugh out loud at Dwight.
-watch Gilmore Girls seasons 1 thru 7 to pay tribute to its oncoming demise.
-help me change a blogskin if there's a great one somewhere! help me customise my blog... best if Faye appears in full glory.
-watch SPIDERMAN3 and 28 WEEKS LATER with.
-explore Malaysia with me.
-exercise with!
-rent a place for a special AMERICAN IDOL season finale viewing with tons of Idol fanatics.
-explain my new phone's functions to me.
-explain why GG is going away.
-town outing wed or thurs!

yar. that's all for now. Edward Norton marathon comin! whoopee!

It's a sad sad sad day for fans of one of the most beloved tv series we have now...

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117964212.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

'Gilmore Girls' canceled
Final episode to air May 15

Say goodbye to "Gilmore Girls."

After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the dramedy focusing on the witty banter between mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). Skein, now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15.

Money was a key factor in the decision, with the parties involved not able to reach a deal on salaries for the main cast members. Other issues, such as number of episodes and production dates, may have also played a role.

In addition, CW execs may have been influenced by early internal reaction to their fall pilots. That the net is willing to move on without a key, albeit modestly rated, player indicates that the CW may like the state of its drama development.

One of the net's hot prospects is another femme-focused drama, the Josh Schwartz-Stephanie Savage hour "Gossip Girl." Also getting great buzz is the supernatural hour "Reaper."

"It was such a hard decision," said CW prexy Dawn Ostroff. "Everyone came to the point where we decided it was just time to move on. But I think everybody is walking away with good feelings. We all tried to make it work."

"Gilmore" was a holdover from the now-defunct WB network. Debuting in 2000, it quickly became one of the Frog's signature skeins, with critics eating up the relationship dramedy. Series was set in the fictional hamlet of Stars Hollow, Conn.

The CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters," the statement read.

David Rosenthal exec produced and served as showrunner on the current season of "Gilmore," which was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. WBTV and the CW thanked the producers and cast for their work, as well as critics who supported the show with glowing reviews.

"(We) promise to give this series the sendoff it deserves," the statement said."

The CW sucks. the CW is the result of the merge between UPN and the WB. UPN is home for ANTM etc, whereas the WB is famous for family dramas like 7th Heaven and Everwood and Smallville. A merge means less air time, which like any take-over/merge, means huge layoffs. in the case of tv frontline, it means multiple shows will face the axe. several shows that were not up to the mark (ie: did not do well in ratings) were cancelled. Everwood is gone. Veronica Mars is facing serious danger if ratings do not go up (despite it being one of the smartest, funniest, wittiest shows on tv). In the US, shows face the cut as early as episode 2 if they dun achieve the desired ratings.

While nothing was mentioned about the fall in viewership, i bet it's the main reason one of my favourite shows was cancelled. reading that piece of news just makes me sad and angry, that they're laying off such an excellent show. despite critics saying that the present season 7 currently showing in the US is a series low(largely in part due to the departure of writer/creater Amy Sherman-Palladino to develop a new show, leaving GG in the hands of producer David Rosenthal), it remains a cult favourite with a devoted following i believe. it jus sucks to axe it because viewership is not Desperate-Housewives high. idiots.

they better deliver what they promised: the sendoff it deserves. I expect nothing short of a Logan-Dean-Milo V. threeway for Rory, a hilarious soliloquey from Suki and Ling, sharp banter between grandma and grandpa Gilmore, and a happily-ever-after for Lorelai.

THE CW SUCKS.

YY, let's go sulk in one corner.

i got hit by a car today. not one of great impact that sent me flying, but still a hit.

i was on my way home, with The Killers blasting through my earphones. as i reach the carpark at my block, i waited for a car to pass on one side. i was blind-sided as i did not keep watch to my right. and as i begin to cross, the car got into contact with me.

luckily, the car was travellin at low speed, and it merely pushed me a few steps away. what angered me was that the driver failed to horn, nor did he get out from his seat to check if i'm ok.

so i broke my fav havaianas slipper, and had some cuts to my feet.

there.my first near-fatal accident.not a good sign.

and i forgot that today is the last day of the Leslie Kee Superstar exhibition. shit. not a good day.

THE KILLERS - Live From Abbey Road.
-when we were young
-Sam's town
-Romeo and Juliet
from EW.COM, top 5 comments on last week's Idol Gives Back show.

"And speaking of outbursts, here are my five favorite message-board comments of the week:

5. Jonnynyc: ''Why was Blake imagining all the 'beoble' and wanting to live in 'beace'? And why hasn't anyone called him on the fact that he replaces all P's with B's. It's super weird. Weirder than his blaid pants.''

4. KC: ''Mindy Doo would be the most boring Idol ever. If she doesn't win the top prize, she could always be the lead singer on Dancing With the Stars. They could use a good voice coming out of the shadows!''

3. On the DL: ''Hey, Michael, you are not the only one who is not so sure about this thing. I mean, 'Idol Gives Back'? Not a very accurate title when donations are coming from corporate sponsors and viewers. Now if Idol wants to give me my wasted time back from being subjected to Sanjaya, then we can talk....''

2. Orange: ''Chris R inspired me all right — he inspired me to shave, start wearing shades in the sun (lest I develop a similar squinting behavior), and be vigilant about matching the top of my wardrobe (sharp looking shirt/blazer combo) to the bottom (nasty cargos and sneakers). Say, do male American Idol contestants ever wear real shoes anymore? Or is all sneakers all the time where it's at this season?

1. Forcefield!: ''Why does the 'Idol Gives Back' logo look exactly like a York Peppermint Patty?'' "

Idol-mania

Tonight is Rock&Roll week on American Idol, as contestants perform songs from Bon Jovi. To me this was probably one of the best episodes of the season, because finally I see the potential of another great finale ala season 2. And it's all thanks to him.

"SHANKE N BLAKE!"
I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL!!!

BLAKE LEWIS, sporting a very neat black hairdo (Black Blake), in the words of Randy Jackson, "blew it out of the box" tonight! yeah! wassup dawgggg!!! that was da bomb!!! his version of "You give love a bad name" was one of the most original, innovative, and smart arrangements EVER done by an Idol contestants. With that comes huge risk, and I'm glad to say that it's paid off very very well. Throughout the competition, he's kept his edge and did not sell out by performing quirky and surprising choices/renditions that is as refreshing as ice water on the hottest summer. Tonight's performance was, IMO, Blake at his best. He maintained the song's rock elements, yet gave it more twist and turns than Twisties and Donuts. Beat boxing and runs intact, his performance had more surprises than any of the other 5 contestants (yes, even beating Kiki's so-called return to form surprise). JUST. VERY. COOL.

after watching his performance, I felt this could really be the season with a finale to-die-for. Other than season 2's Reuben vs Clay mammoth battle, other seasons' finales are dead giveaways. Justin never did A Moment Like This justice, Diana ruined one of her songs by going out of tune (and she wasnt exactly part of the dream-finale team of Latoya-Hudson-Fantasia), Bo Bice dun have a voice more commercial than Carrie, or rock enough to truely make it (and Constantine was out), and we already have a diva-in-the-making, so Kat McPhee wld have to play second fiddle to Taylor Hick's very unfortunate win, albeit an oddball choice(and Chris-everyone-thought-was-gonna-win-Daughtry was out too early). So imagine if it's a battle between Blake and Melinda. the innovator vs the power-house. the original vs the gifted vocalist. the teenage-magnet vs the humble pie. the edgy kewl cat vs the naughty little tiger. MARVELOUS.

but Idol, given its many twists and turns like twisties and donuts, might pull a shocker and send Blake home. Like Simon said, one half will love it, one half will hate it. i just hope the one half who love it are the ones who vote. either way i'm dying to see how his first record will be like. sure to be a shocker.

i'm tired already hahha. but i cant leave without talkin bout my Hot Favourite to win this year.

MELINDA DOOLITTLE. this week her "young Tina Turner" comparisons were moved one step closer. however i had higher expectations of her. yes it's a good vocals, but i just hoped she'd moved around more and run 2.4km on stage and show the world how to DANCE in high heels the way groud-breakin Tina Turner did it back in the days. do a lil "rollin" ala "Proud Mary" or something u know. but she was jus keepin it a tad safe. pity. and her wardrobe didnt do her justice. it's rock week! cant they give her a leather jacket or smthin?! tt sleeveless tee was WRONG. and she's gonna be in the finale!!! cant the producers prep her up with something more glamorous>?! gosh.

but i still love Doolittle. she makes me smile. wideeee Sanjaya smile.

oh. Phil is worth a mention too. love. Jordin Chris Kiki, good luck.

Live from Abbey Road

I LOVE tonight's episode of Live From Abbey Road because:

a) Gnarls Barkley is bundles of fun, especially when Cee-Lo performed Transformers to a group of background singers wearing wigs and assorted retro glasses.

b) The Feelings performed SEWN!!! I was so hoping one of their 3-song set would be this because i dead-love that song.

c) THE KILLERS. I LOVE THEM. They did an acoustic 3-song set which was utterly charming. Brandon Flowers rocks. His voice is so much more distinct here. In the album, his vocals were mostly drowned out by the instruments. and he's more in-tune tonight as compared to the live performances from their first album. It's a reminder that he has such a nice tone and they should do more acoustic stuff. I hope they cut a full-length acoustic album someday, and I'm crossing my fingers hard that they'd come to Singapore real soon, sans piano playing and not just plain rock fun.

you're still you

randomness.

"Yi Hua is just... Yi Hua!"

Sometimes, I just wish I wasn't me. I fantasize having 7 different personalities for each day of the week. One day I could be thoughtful, another day witty, another day outrageous, another day humorous. Some days I wish I could start the day afresh, like refreshing a webpage. Erase the past and relive the present differently.

So why is it hard to understand changes in someone?

I finally accepted my dad's kind offer to change my phone. Sony Ericson k800i. my first colour phone with digital camera and mp3 player. Somehow it scares me to change my phone, with all these new tools thrown in. Till now I'm still reading the instruction booklet to make sure I dun get it wrong. I'm such a caveman when it comes to technology. I fear the day my computer crashes (which I think doomsday is nearing), I might get so agitated I'd smash it into pieces. it's a love-hate relationship.

So, the thought of changing a phone scares me. It also hit me that it means I'd have to leave various sms-es with the old phone. In a way, it's starting afresh. But I've had such beautiful memories in the old phone. I still have afew sms-es my friends sent me on my first night of enlistment. Then there's Exercise Claymore where my friends wished me a safe trip. Forwarded sms that had something meaningful to say. Appreciation sms-es. conversational sms-es.

I know, it's just a change of phone. Get on with it! why am I rambling!

Oh well.

off. to. watch. Planet. earth.

Happy Labour Day
