you can never get what you want

today is the perfect example of how Life has a way of denying you its little pleasures.

it was raining an hour or two ago. You'd have hoped it would go on forever, till the wee hours deep into slumber. the pattering on the window works better than any Chet Lam, for u know that everything would be just perfect; a breeze; watching chaos from inside your private sanctuary.

and the downpour became drippings above shelters, silent puddles between cracks.

soon after, you receive your first hangover from the rain: a mosquito bite.

the scratching starts, and the calm ends.

for the first time in my life, i walked in the rain today. it wasnt intentional, or deliberate. i had to get home, and i thought i'd see how it feels like. whoever said it was fantastic must be feeling very dry, because it was chilling. i must admit, stepping on puddles you would otherwise avoid on a dry day was fun. that reckless trampling over everything and anything. Linkin Park's What I've Done was playin on the radio. as i walk, i long for the shelter. it made me appreciate the warmth of a regular humid evening. mildly liberating.

i didnt expect Yaonie to visit today. Everytime i work at CP, he wont appear. it's on days i work in AMK or somewhere that he wants to have coffee. so anyway, we had a quick chat at Mac. a much-needed one given the intensely boring afternoon at work with nothing to do. another example of not getttin what u want, but at least this one turned out great. he cheered me up.

So deal your cards, and i will deal with what it reveals.

LIVE EARTH - 070707
after a failed attempt at askin for company to this crazy idea, i went to PS to catch the live broadcast of the Live Earth concert after work yesterday. i stayed from 11pm thru 3.30am. it wasnt very crowded, and there werent plenty who wore green like me to show support. anyway, for those unsure, Live Earth is a concert across 7 continents, 8 cities, held on 070707, to combat global warming. Musical acts from Madonna, Kelly Clarkson to Sarah Brightman and Metallica congregate at the 8 cities (Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, New York, etc) to perform to stadium crowds, all in the name of spreading global warming awareness and to "answer the call" and make a difference to the way we live, while we still can. Previously after watching AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, i've made my point here. over the past few mths there's been an increasing awareness towards the consequences, so i shant elaborate. the crisis is real. if not now, when?

anyways silly me thought it was from 7pm till 7am only. so i stayed up all night tryin to catch it. it wasnt until 6am that i realise the whole show ends at 7PM ON CHANNEL 5 INSTEAD(when i checked on Teletext if there's Gilmore Girls today). so in the end i missed a good day's worth due to work. sighhhh.
anywa, there's always youtube. and the joy of community screening, like the one yesterday, next to havin better sound system and larger screens, was seeing the response from everyone. this is the short film that drew the most response. was probably the funniest i've seen from all the snips. so enjoy.
