picking sides

Obama is proactive, McCain has the experience.
Obama talks about solutions, Mc Cain has the "records".
Obama has youth, McCain has experience.
Obama looks and walks like an energetic Democrat, while McCain (though less energetic and almost limping)oozes polite and remembers praises.
Obama is eloquent. McCain has good rebuttals.

oh, and Obama is listed in 8-Day's "40 sexiest people over 40".

i guess he wins based on that?

Against general presumptions that I am one only interested in entertainment news (there's a difference between news and gossip, though a thin fine line), i actually sat through more than half of the second US Presidential debate held in Nashville Tennessee (third one next wed in NYC). There were lots of talks on natural energy, taming Russia to prevent cold war, Iran and Iraq, Afghan, health care, and of cos, the infamous economy and its tax cuts. of course there were opposing opinions with regards to whether they should input more money into the economy by raising taxes.

watching them debate was rather interesting. McCain was brutal in putting words in Obama's mouth, constantly giving off his own implied statements and scrutinising his policies, while being polite and calling the audience "my friends". this is my first attempt at trying to catch up on the US election and i must say i was rather hooked to find out more, starting with a trip to the lib to find the recent issue of TIME magazine with them on the cover.

if only picking sides were easy. one had the energetic burst to make changes and you know he is going to make a difference; eloquent and charismatic. the other one is an experienced old fox unnew to the big guns, even with a few sly tricks up his sleeves. it's like choosing between what is good for you, and what is it that you want. it's like picking someone to be a school councillor: pick the one that would make changes but prob break some rules in the process, or the trustworthy loyal kid typical of council material.

if it was as easy as noticing their body language, Obama wins hands down.

these few days, i've been pondering. i realise i do not need people who test my patience, nor dishonest friends who pry. it would be wrong to say that i don't need friends, almost hypocritical. but i would rather do without, than deal with insincerity. i should be glad that i at least have a few whom i can depend on, and a few who truely care. once again, it's not about the number of years. it's about genuine, honest feelings towards each other.

so don't rub me the wrong way.
