Lars and the Real Girl

"If there were a little more silence, if we all kept quiet. . . maybe we could understand something." - Federico Fellini, Director

Fedrico Fellini is not the director of this movie, but this quote appeared in one of the featurettes of the movie. Lars and the Real Girl is about Lars, who purchased a "love doll", named her Bianca, gave her a backstory, and make belief that she's her girlfriend for real. the entire community played along, just so he wld feel fine about it.

the plot sounds like a potential comedy with gags about sanity, sex dolls, and small town idiosyncracies. instead, the film steered clear of the stereotypes and becomes one of the most moving stories i've seen this year. above being a comedy, it is a story about humanity and a community with big hearts. while it may sound incredible having an entire community play along with the delusions, it is not hard to believe so once you see this film. large credit goes to Ryan Gosling, whom i truely believe to be the most talented young actor out there today, as well as writer Nancy Oliver and director Craig Gillespie. they could have made it junkfull of rubbish stereotypes and make stupid fun like "i now pronounce you chuck and larry", but instead, it's understated, never over the top, always surprising, and ultimately very moving.

oh. and i love Emily Mortimer. =)

i feel like i am fast turning into a cry-baby. this is the second time i cried durin a movie in recent memory. damn.

go watch.

"oh pretty baby i shouldnt have let u gooo...i must confess that my econ test is killing me nowwww dont you know i still believe..." - the Mosquito, altering Britney's Baby One More Time to hilarious effect =) funniest shit i read today.
