if a friend does not appreciate the things i've done, then let it be. i'm not one who like to boast about my contributions. if there's not the slightest appreciation, i believe i can handle it. thou i dun ask for anything in return, but it'd be nice to at least appreciate it.
call me superficial, but i believe an empty birthday sms wld have spoken more than none. it's all i'm asking for really.

Best Picture
i finally cuaght Juno today. whoopee!!! yeah!!!
i love the film. Juno tells the story of 16yr old Juno McGuff, who got pregnant after sex on a couch with Michael Cera. It wasnt a dark and twisty movie tt dwelled on the woes of teenage pregnancy and its discrimination, but was treated in a laid back, almost funny manner. The script was written by a former stripper called Diablo Cody, and Ellen pulled off the witty lines and high sch geekish-exile-boyish persona pretty well, but it's not a role you wont imagine her in. as in, IMO, its not that hard to think of a teenager playin a high sch stereotype, knowing that there's stuff in there that u can relate to. I cant help but compare spectacular Ellen's performance to her breakout performance in Hard Candy. that role was against type,not something u'd imagine a typical teenager wld do. and there was smthin scary bout her portrayal. i felt Juno wasnt as big a challenge, and there wasnt a particular scene that required emotional depth. but still Juno was one of the sweetest movies i've seen this yr. loved the soft, slightly oddball music, love Rainn Wilson's cameo and Alisson Janney's deadpan humour, love the ending lingering scene when the two just strummed their guitars away to a lovey dovey duet, love Jennifer Garner in anything.
in a year where Ellen Page got nominated for Best Actress in what i felt was a less deserving nomination, it got me thinking: is this yr's batch of Best Actress nominees below standards? Or was 2 yrs ago's competition too tough?
this yr marks the first time i've seen 4 out of 5 of the Best Picture contenders: Juno, Atonement, No country for old men, and Michael Clayton. i cant wait to watch There Will Be Blood thou. out of the 4, my personal fav will be for Juno to win actually. No Country was too dry, and thou stylised and thrilling, well-paced and acted, it didnt leave me feeling much after the show. Atonement was lavish and the cinematography was beautiful. the long shot seemed difficult and meticulous (i love single shots), but i didnt feel any emotional depth or chemistry from the leads. it was a lil too showy. Michael Clayton was very dry and the onli pull were the actors. so by manner of elimination, i'm rooting for Juno. but NCFOM will win. so here are my predictions for the show in a while:
best Actress: Marion Cotillard. But i'm thinkin they might give it to Julie Chritstie for old time sake.
Best Actor: DANIEL DAY LEWIS. all the buzz. it's almost like Helen Mirren's sure bet last year.
Best Supporting actor: Javier Bardem. hands down.

time of the season
i feel a little embarressed that my first entry in almost a week is largely about the past hour of Idol-viewing i had. hahahahhah. long-time readers sld know that yes, it's that time of the year again when Loo gets TOTALLY engross in American Idol and desert food, lodging, rationality, manners, books etc etc and just succumb to the drug that is AI.
Therefore, i shall blog in points and randomly, for the past week has been sorta awesome in some sense. Idol first:
- Paula is back to talkin COLOURS! after one or two seasons whereby she DID NOT ask contestants to "colour up your vocals", she's back in top colouring form by sayin that word THRICE TOO MANY! WHHOOHOO!! IT WAS TOTALLY HILARIOUS. Simon would then proceed to ask Paula what colour she thought the subsequent performers were. Of which Paula gave a very rarely dignified "not grey or black", in reference to Simon's tee. hahah. Just when i thought Paula FINALLY made sense last season, this season she's back to gibberish and awkward silences, square one.
- you can cut the tension with a knife. Simon was verging on leaving halfway thru the show. there were so much argueing goin round about who's good and who's not, who looks grotesque and who looks like he needed to get out for more air (i cant believe he said tt). For once, i felt Simon was close to being obnoxious and rude.
- the judges seem to have mellowed. Simon was critical, yes, talking about relevance in today's industry and making something old your own (no wonder Jordin won and Melinda was not signed on to 19 Entertainment or J Records. she's gonna sign with another label like Eliot Yamin thou). but Randy was less critical than usual. You'd think tt after 7 seasons, they might have lost abit of tt sharp eye for superstardom. thankfully Simon always brings it back to perspective, that at this point, its more than just good singing. it's about blowing audiences away while guaranteeing a spot in the music industry post-idol.
- MY FAVOURITES: guys - David Archuleta, David Hernandez, and the Jason "Dreadlocks" Castro!
- MY FAVOURITES: girls(hopefully they dun disappoint tml) - Amanda Overmyer! Brooke!
- cant help but notice how much younger this yr's contestants are. i lost count but more than half of them are less than 25, which really makes it alot harder to believe when they take on, say, an ELVIS song.
- Danny was funny initially. i thought he'd be like an airhead for liking Britney. today, he's too in ya face singing Elvis' Jailhouse Rock. i cant help but think the producers put him in to target the gay audience. he was all SUPER SKINNY jeans with nice hair and all. and his attitude was very in-ya-face and hard to swallow initially. but i think subsequent weeks he'll have more fun. and getting kicked out last season at Hollywood week turned out to be a blessing in disguise given his awful piercing on lips, bad hair, and almost gothic outfit.
- David Archuleta. FREAKIN AWESOME. at 17 he can blow man! and i tink i saw his quivering lips and uncomfortability on stage, which was rather endearing. everyone likes an earnest budding star. but when he sings, he's got nothin else to prove man.
- i dun like Michael. i think he's one dimensional. kelly and carrie's success relied on their cross-genre abilities IMO. Michael cant be another Chris cos he lacked, IMO, a contemporary pleasing rock voice and Chris' emo good looks. yea. its superficial but true.
- i watched NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, this yr's most nominated Oscar film. my friend thought it was boring, so it's not for everyone. for starters, there's NO MUSIC. cept for tt brief short Mexican trio playing. the silence builds up the suspense, and it played like a thriller to the same effect. basically its the story of one guy who found a briefcase of money at a bloodbath between a drug exchange. the whole movie revolves around 2 guys who is chasing after him: a jaded sheriff who thought he'd seen it all, and a ruthless, almost psychopathic serial killer, whom sometimes relies on a coin toss to determine his victims. Javier Bardem of THE SEA INSIDE plays this serial killer to terrifying effect. his built reminds me of Michael Myers from HALLOWEEN, and if looks could kill, his would have slaugtered a town. at one point, i KNOW he's gonna kill EVERYONE he sees, but still there's a small part in me tt always doubt if he's really gonna do it. still, it was pure suspense. certain points u can almost hear the pin drop. Joel and Ethan Coens' films have always explored the western country wasteland-solitude quality, and this one is no exception. The accent and silence might put some to sleep, but i kinda love it. it's touted to win best picture, but i'm not too sure if the Academy usually reward films this diverse.
- CNY at susan's place was fun with the yusheng! Becca tarot-carded me and i thought it was feakily accurate in some aspects. after tt we watched AH LONG PTE LTD, which without a doubt was a light-hearted holiday comedy tt made me change my impression of Mark Lee (and to some extent Jack Neo, negatively) cos his msia accent was SO DEAD ON AND HILARIOUS, but it was so vulgar. Vulgar in all sense of the word. I was appalled at the hokkien vulgarities and the sexual connotations. besides tt, it's still vulgar.
- I NEED TO STUDY EXERCISE AND LEARN MY GUITAR!!!
- and i dont sulk for "could've beens" no more.

UMBRELLA
a few friends showed me this during one of our lunch slacking sessions at CSS Orientation camp this yr. i sorta remembered it again today. what's interesting bout this video, other than the fact it's made by our own local students, was that it's seemingly done in 1 long shot! 1 take! wat perfect timing they have. unbelievable. take a look. it's hilarious too thou.
was youtubing Beyonce and Tina Turner's Grammy performance and chanced upon this. I saw this a long time ago, but as i was comparing Tina past and present, i cant help but notice the spectacle of this performance tt i missed out previously. This vid was from the 1985 Grammys and it was the opening performance. it was her comeback year and she was nominated for many major awards, out of which she won record of the year and song of the year. she performed "What's love gotta do with it?", which went on to become one of the biggest hits of her career(together with PROUD MARY). Those who saw the movie of the same name wld know tt Tina had an abusive husband and after her divorce, her album PRIVATE DANCER became the album of her lifetime.
the point is, i realise that after watchin Tina and Amy, what u need is really just a good voice and yaself. Tina's performance was minimalist, which was very uncharacteristic of modern grammy performances with silks and ribbons, neon lights and elaborate stage setup for a 3 min performance and what not. The Queen of rock & roll, famous for her to-die-for legs, of course showed the world how to dance in heels. she is known for her high-energy performance, almost like an action-packed movie. in this uncharacterisically toned-down performance, that sultry voice, those casual moves, and that great song were enough to capture an audience. that, in my books, is a fab performance. of cos the red dress helped too. who needs backup dancers and boa and candymen(if u have what it takes).

I love AMY! (and the Grammys)
The Grammys is the annual celebration of music. despite declining record sales for consecutive 5 yrs or so straight, the ceremony is still an annual highlight and the benchmark for quality (thou recent years see a growing trend towards younger nominees, a move to cater to the largely young comsumers). still, it has something for everyone. From gospel, rap, indie, brit rock, hard rock, country, to comtemporary adult pop, it features the most varied (Alicia keys with a "dead" Frank Sinatra), legendary (Aretha franklin!), best mix of hip-and-classic (beyonce with tina!), contemporary (alicia with john mayer!), and the most elaborate (carrie with a STOMP troup and Aretha with a choir).
I wonder why Channel 5 showed HEROES today instead. i suspect the writers' strike stopped ch5 from purchasing the rights as no one was certain the show wld go on. (The Oscars will go on as reported today)
so being the nosey one, i youtubed the interesting ones while checking out EW's reviews on every performance.
my personal highlights:
- seeing Tina Turner holding up to Beyonce, with her deep growl more thrilling than Beyonce's high notes. and tt proud mary dance!
- aretha, the queen of soul, still as fiery as ever.
- Feist!!! standing on carpet with a very charmin 1234!
-a slimmer John Mayer with better hair, reminisce of Bob Dylan/Elvis!
- carrie underwood turing xtina-ish. erms. still gd vocals.
- FOO FIGHTERS!!!
but NO ONE entertained me more than Ms Amy Winehouse. yes call her an addict or criminal or weird or whatever. she with the reputation of being a disaster or a no-show is a stunner here. of cos those not familiar to her music might find this awfully weird and wondeer why she's got tattoo all over. still i love the beehive. and this performance via UK was so sassy it made me smile just to see her carry out those small antics like pouting her lips, the hands on the waist, the small breakout dances, the arms up in the air, the smirk, the shrug of shoulders. i love how she changed the vocals, the arrangements, the 3 bkground singers/dancers, and the very retro-brit setting. AMY sld have won album of the year.
yes she's been to rehab, but no no no she's still awesome.
and has Britney gone crazy?!?!?! whats up with the regular check-in to hospitals like hotels?!!!?!!? sighhhh.

a Gilmore Girls tribute
I was youtubing, tryin to find the perfect vid tt wld encompass the show's perfect blend of humour, wit and heart.
it wasnt easy. there were many many random bits of self-created song montages(very irritating). but i managed to dig out these. only the true blues wld understand/recognise these. but hopefully u'll get interested to watch.
Friday night dinners are a must for the Gilmore household. this scene was the actual one tt was aired, so the split scene transcendence was not bad editing.
notice the dysfunctional dialogue, Lorelai's splendid mimicking, Emily's sharp bits, and the camera works.
for HEROES fans, this was Peter Petrelli pre-HEROES. can u imagine him pullin off as a teenager? this was Luke setting some ground rules to bad-boy Jesse for datin the goodie-2-shoe Rory
and the bittersweet karaoke scene fr the final season. its the Dolly Parton version, not the familiar Whitney version.
and these 2 are more viewer-friendly. i wished there were more clips of Emily, but these are the best i got so far. Rory did community service, Luke is renovating the house, rory is fighting with Lorelai. a pity no Michel.

its my day
This may sound silly, but i sorta knew this yr's celebration was gonna be great when Katharine Heigl became the 28th bride in the movie "27 DRESSES" (which i caught with Eugene and fairoz on 26th), and when coincidentally i sat on table 28 while at Thai Express having dinner with CH, mel, Boo on 27th.

then on 27th the army dudes sprang me a surprise with a guitar! and i have Justin and Mel C to thank. i know u 2 are reading this. thanks guys for the huge surprise. it's one of the best presents i've received in my life. HOW DO I TOP TT MAN. awesome. it was the longest shock i had when receiving a present. thanks guyssss.

after that its me and aiwei's celebration at her place. sumptuous food! endless dumplings! spicy spag! yes i do love them all lorr. even thou they're not SELF-MADE dumplings or first-grade spag sauce. hahahahahah. and bec's fried tofu/potato rox. =)
and they got me a shaver! ahhahaha. and jenni made me this really coOl wishlist "barfday sarplise" book tt really surprised me. hahah. thanks tall one for the sweet value-addedness. =)=)=)

this yr i wasnt really in the mood to celebrate my birthday. nothing went wrong, but i just felt like January went by so fast that my bday came by as fast as it went away. i'm not sure if its the wishlist i had or wat, but in a way, i felt embarrassed at all the extravagance. when zif wanted to spring me a surprise in sch with my fellow ex-co (but cldnt cos i hav no lessons and i had dinner plans), i felt embarrassed cos the others dun rcv the same treatment. when jen and co wanted to get me a guitar initially and even went as far as sourcing for the shop and visiting it, i felt touched and felt that they shldnt have. when mel and justin booked the ktv and the rest just left like flies, me as an organiser understand how it feels when ppl dun pay up their share of the present and leave early to spoil the fun and my ehart goes out to them(mel, get those money back!). when Art spent his meagre allowance on an extravagant meal, i felt a pinch in my heart as well(thou i'll be treating him back, but he sldnt have). belle said something tt really made sense yesterday. as you grow older, u start to filter ya friends. i'm glad tt thruout the past few yrs, i've managed to see who are the ones that truely stay, and who are the ones who love me despite my imperfections. to all those who've made 28th a blast, thank you for being part of it, and for creating one of the first best memories of 2008.

best thing i've seen all day. 27 Dresses comes a close second. Heath, Bale, and Maggie Gyllenhael(beats katie holmes hands down down). Thou i somehow wished the trailer was more disturbing, this was quite exciting as well. i cant wait to catch Heath's tortured rendition of The Joker.

what happens when potential dies?
i was utterly shocked when Quin told me tt Heath Ledger passed away today. I was so looking forward to seeing his performance in I'm Not There and as the new Joker in The Dark Knight, the new Batman sequel.
for those who dunno him, he's starred in 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU, THE PATRIOT, and A Knight's Tale.
What a waste. In many ways, this might be our modern-James-Dean, when it takes death for the rest of us to truely appreciate his past and future yet-to-be-released works.
My heart goes out to the family and his children. and mourning fans all over the globe.

dear friend
reading a friend's blog entry made me realise how trivial my life has been.
he did not party alot, nor did he save the cheerleader or the world, but in my mind, he's lived an eventful life more so than anyone i've seen so far.
This friend of mine, i cant say we go way back. i chanced upon his blog many years ago, with such intriguing writing. it wasnt daily updates about what he did or who he went out with. some entries were pretty much book reviews and short quotes, but i remember reading it with much admiration for his depth of reading and thought.
As years pass, he came back from overseas and we met. and though we didnt meet up often, he's become one of the few ppl that inspires me to do better. to write as well as him, in a way that is so simple, so clear yet so poetic. he didnt need complex sentence structure, nor fanatstic vocabulary, but it was all there. what he needed to convey, it was all there with such fluidity. i was inspired to read as many books as him, but pity it's something i've yet to achieve. and reading his summary of the year past made me realise tt wisdom and maturity didnt come easy for him, and at 22, he's led a life far more complex and difficult for perhaps anyone of us to truely comprehend.
and that questioned my existance.
i now realise that the silence between us has become something that is comfortable in itself. our train-ride home once, just listening to classical music on his ipod, was so quiet it made me awkward. but now i appreciate it. of cos he was not without his flaws. and thou it's a inevitable pity we rarely keep in touch nowadays, i'm glad that reading from afar still keeps me in perspective and inspires me. this silence still has a purpose.
if only he knew, how much i missed him.

movies movies movies
this two weeks of january have been, i know it sounds like a deja vu, lots of fun. I mean, i've blogged about this in the previous entry, rite? but here i am at it again. basically this is gonna be a movie review entry, cos i've watched tons alrdy this yr. ahhahahahaha. i watched 4 movies this past 2 weeks:
- Elizabeth: The Golden Age
- AVP 2
- The Darjeeling Limited
- Michael Clayton
Elizabeth: The Golden Age. I cant help but compare this movie to Helen Mirren much-raved HBO mini-series in the way both actresses tackled the role. Cate is known to be great in every role she's in, and this is no exception. Many critics have said that she's the saving grace in this movie, as the director takes a different approach to how he tackled the first movie that garnered 7 Oscar nominations and made Cate known to the acting world. of course, Cate eventually lost to that Gywneth Paltrow from damn Shakespeare In Love, which many thought have been one of the biggest upsets in that category. But if i'm not wrong, it being the year of much political dispute, they needed a light-hearted best Actress winner.
back to Helen. Helen played two queens last yr to much critical acclaim. Her Elizabeth I was tormented with affairs of the heart, and of state politics. Cate, however, was depicted as a women dealing with ageing and how she is unable to trust anyone. Helen played the role with much gusto, at times feeble and weak but always in control. Cate went for the dramatic pauses and it was a thoughtful performance, with the nervous tapping of her fingers and those veins on her neck showing during points of anger. Cate's portral is strong, but what failed the movie, i thought, was the quality of writing. Helen was given so much quotable lines. The script was filled with Englishmen nuances and wit. Cate's movie had hints of it, but when it comes to quotability, and that common scene in which the Queen gives a speech to her army who's about to fight with the Spanish, Helen totally nailed it, while Cate looked like she was tryin hard to control her horse.
but Cate is cate is one of my fav actresses after Nicole. =) i love how the two movie shifts in perspective from a woman's coming-of-age to a woman trying to grapple with the realities of age. it makes it full-circle, and the title refers to both a personal and state's Golden Age.
AVP2. i was tricked into believing that AVP2 would be way better than AVP 1, given how the trailer deceptively made it look like a drama about a town, then a slasher flick, then whoala an alien flick. From the townsfolk-laden trailer i thought there's gonna be some huge drama and character development. instead, it's worse than the first (thou i always get cheap thrills from huge woofer sound effects and get scared). the first had some mythology goin on. this one felt truely like a bad B-grade insect/experiment-gone-wrong monster flick (despite the A+ trailer). you know, its bad when i say its a monster flick. it's like one of those late night movies bout locusts or rats or bugs that wana take over the human race. and an alien hybrid in the sewers?! like how typical B-grade is that?!!?!? why does EVERY CREATURE in a b-flick have to go to the sewers?! so in the end, it became something like the recent Rob Zombie Halloween remake or b-flick: face-hugging alien, face-hugging alien, kill kill dominate town, aplomb. end. and it was so dark i cant see the hybrid's features. BAD.
which is TRUELY disappointing. u're gonna think it's ridiculous, but the alien character was one of my most terrified monsters growing up. even till now, i still get a lil freaked out sometimes. i'd throw the garbage and imagine what i'd do if an alien pops by and enters my house faster than me. i'd think of places i can hide if the world gets taken over by aliens, and what food i'd bring with me. heck, i even had a nightmare once about them! growing up, IT and Freddy Kreuger (which i always thought was under my bed and wld send his "fingers" up my bed and kill me like Johnny Depp in the first movie) were my inner demons. Kudos to Ridley Scott and James Cameron for the first two movies for tormenting my childhood. but the AVP franchise sucks.
The Darjeeling Limited. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. my friend fell asleep while watching thou. such a waste ppl dun appreciate oddball comedies. i love Wes Anderson. like how George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh are now inseparable in movie credits, Anjelica Huston and Bill Murray have appeared in Wes' last 2 films: The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic. The cinemathography was beautiful, with a huge amount of turqoise and yellow. The camera works were a lil Bollywood inspired, with that afar landscape shot that zooms in on individual actions. then there's Wes' typical screen shots which lingers.
the movie is about 3 brother's journey to India to look for their mum who became a nun. two of the brothers were fooled into believing it was a journey of self-discovery and bonding, which in the end, it ended up becoming just that. it's a road trip movie and Wes and Jason Schwartzman did went on such a trip to come up with story lines for the movie. its not the typical laugh-out-loud comedy with slapsticks. Wes' films are filled with oddball characters whose antics make them funny. the india worldview was breath-takin and makes you wana be there, thou of course it's only a fragmented representation of the country everyone imagined to be crowded and filthy. but of cos, India is not without its beauty, and i'm glad it's brought forward in this movie and its soundtrack.
Michael Clayton. many critics have deem this movie as the one that would get George Clooney nominated for Best Actor. i see how it works: put an actor in a serious lead role that is powerful and every frame has him in it, punch in some lines he would say in real life, some drama, and bam. everybody loves george. even myself i've come to realise, thou i initially denied the hype. but george has this everybody's-man quality that is so appealing. i still didnt get the sexy part thou. but in this film, the role was made for him. i could imagine him saying those lines in real life. thou dramatically, there's not much breakthrough (and i am not one of those who will lobby for his win), it's still a good performance. the movie gets draggy in the middle, but the front and ending was good. i love how it started off with the middle, the went back four days earlier to reclaim the events that led to it. the horse-epiphany was reminiscent of Helen Mirren's scene in The Queen, but i thought it was a great scene ( and u'd have to pay attention to understand that scene). wont recommend it for those who gets bored easily thou. and there's no laughs. so its some serious shit for George diehards.

threshold.
rest days are supposed to be peaceful and relaxing. instead, i got into a heated argument with my mum, and my sis is blasting the tv with her f. annoyin Taiwan drama. my mum is always having assumptions about what i do and thinks that i'm still a kid. yes i know, all parents think we are. but mine thinks tt i am a stupid brainless kid who doesnt think for himself and has no sense of the situation or motivation. i like them better when they're asleep. i get more peace.
the past 2 weeks were very celebratory. annual movie marathon/vj's farewell/jenni's bday countdown party at szechao's place on 29th was so much fun. i've never laughed louder and more painfully this yr. what a closer. it's all joanna's fault. she had me in stitches while we're playin charades.

then on new yr's eve, i realise i'm suffering from the "alumni withdrawal symptoms", and wanted to celebrate the countdown with a group of ppl this yr. i didnt wana spend a celebration alone at home, watchin adrian pang/gurmit singh havin fun while tidyin up my bedroom. so we went to settlers cafe. aiwei,xin,vj,susan,jenni,bee,junwei, cheryl,art. aiwei got soaked TWICE, and we all deduced tt she's gonna be rich this yr. then we checked out ALL the ktvs in chinatown before deciding its too expensive and we all just chilled to beer at a bar beside the "river". me xin aiwei chatted till 4.30 while waiting for aiwei's face to decolourise. it was a aneh-free (almost), yet lively celebration.
i love these people more and more. i miss it. love love love.
2007 didnt close with a bang as i had wanted. the yr in hindsight felt rushed, and i didnt accomplish alot as far as i'm concerned. (so i made up for it with some shopping. Into The Wild and Radiohead's new album, and some 2nd hand cds). first day of 2008 and it didnt start off well either. am i expecting too much out of myself? or am i underachieving? 2008, you shall be the one i'm waiting for.

then on new yr's eve, i realise i'm suffering from the "alumni withdrawal symptoms", and wanted to celebrate the countdown with a group of ppl this yr. i didnt wana spend a celebration alone at home, watchin adrian pang/gurmit singh havin fun while tidyin up my bedroom. so we went to settlers cafe. aiwei,xin,vj,susan,jenni,bee,junwei, cheryl,art. aiwei got soaked TWICE, and we all deduced tt she's gonna be rich this yr. then we checked out ALL the ktvs in chinatown before deciding its too expensive and we all just chilled to beer at a bar beside the "river". me xin aiwei chatted till 4.30 while waiting for aiwei's face to decolourise. it was a aneh-free (almost), yet lively celebration.
i love these people more and more. i miss it. love love love.
2007 didnt close with a bang as i had wanted. the yr in hindsight felt rushed, and i didnt accomplish alot as far as i'm concerned. (so i made up for it with some shopping. Into The Wild and Radiohead's new album, and some 2nd hand cds). first day of 2008 and it didnt start off well either. am i expecting too much out of myself? or am i underachieving? 2008, you shall be the one i'm waiting for.

For you I was a flame.
i'm supposed to blog about how Reposicion 2007 went. but it's all a bit blurry even till now. i didnt have as big a hangover as last yr. i still feel like a big part of me is gone. and i think i could have done better. i didnt achieve what i set out to do. i still need to do some soul-seaching. which is really a pity cos the timing is a lil late now. all i can think of was the Justin song in the previous entry, which in a way summarised part of what was in my head.
i have 4 weeks' worth of Everwood/Veronica Mars/Gilmore Girls video tape lyin in front of the video, what i like to call my Sunday Gold Rush. my Sunday prime time is from 4pm - 7pm. it could have been 5 weeks but i ran out of video tape last week, so sadly i missed it. i haven been watchin tv for a long time. I only caught 3 episodes of The Amazing Race so far, i didnt know Survivor China is alrdy over till i saw the reunion show. I didnt watch the Pussycat dolls show even though i wanted to before it aired. and the scary thing is, I AM FINE WITH IT!?
until just now. when i caught one episode of EVERWOOD on tape. it was kinda weird sitting on the couch cos i haven do that for so long. i've been sitting in front of the computer for so long. so watchin tv feels different like u need to really pay attention. i begin to miss watchin tv and tt sense of comfort, and regret all that i've missed. Everwood is one of those shows that are highly quotable. each episode makes me simultaneously grounded, appreciative, humble, and feel loved in 1 hour. which is more than i can say for what's on tv now. and at that point, i fell in love with it all over again.
ya. i am havin mixed feelings. i love EVERWOOD.

8 days
no, i am not doin a good job.
things are spinning so fast now tt it is hard for me to catch up.
though i know that things will turn out fine eventually, but i don't want it to be just fine.i want to be the best tt is yet to be. but with 8days left, it feels like there's no time for damage control anymore.
these few days i have been working with the kids. it made me realise tt the reason why i am doin this again is not because i want to rekindle/start off any feelings or bond with my committee. now i want to do it for them. although i know at the back of my head tt it's one of my objective, but now i truely feel the desire to make this more about them instead of us. those tt i've worked with made me realise that there's so much hidden potential in youths. that they still have the energy to dream big and hopefully live it because the future is a black canvas waiting to be written. to have and be that, is probably one of the things i miss most about my sec sch life. and the scary part is, how some of them have so much potential, yet they do not know that they are capable of achieving them.
i guess that's where teachers come in. and tt's why i've always wanted to be a sec sch teacher. these few days i was awed and impressed at what 16 yr olds can do. their friendship. their determination. and their drive. rather than them learning from me, i feel like i have alot to learn from them.
23 Dec. i cant wait. yet i dun wan it to happen as well. i cant say tt i've enjoyed every step along the way (and i know that i will be left empty after that), but given another chance i would do it again in a heartbeat.
but nothing lasts forever. we all sld know tt. i need to pursue my long-hidden dreams as well.

Golden Horse Award 07
第44屆金馬獎《莫文蔚 ＆ 古巨基》‧《愛，別巨風蔚》
古巨基 is one of my fav singers in the world. his albums and singing just keep gettin better. like wine. and he took the elixir of life also man. anti-aging.
and Karen Mok is one of the most under-rated singers. so stylised and unique. she sld be more famous than alot of the jumpers out there.
Jam Xiao蕭敬騰 Golden Horse Award 07 (8 Dec 07)
this vid left out the excruciating piece of presentation between Li Yundi and Tang Wei. what bad scripting.
but on a high note, this performance had me at HELLO.
if u watched, or listened to the originals, u'd realise how this set is more rocked out and the way he presents it...it makes u hate the original.
this is the uncut version, unseen on ch U, featuring a very brief lip-lock between Rainie and another female at the screen (one of the songs nominated was from the movie Tattoo)
and song 3. what a beautiful twist. so hard to sing i wished it lasted longer.
and Soda Green's ditto. notice how his eyes lit up.
as much as i hate his name and all the breakfast associations, they way he sings is just mesmerising and charismatic. close to magic.
